Privacy Policy

How we collect, use, protect and share information across UpTax.

Last updated: August 5, 2026. This policy explains how UpTax(“UpTax,” “we,” “us”) handles information for visitors to https://uptax.ai and firms that use our AI tax-preparation services.

1.Who we are

UpTax provides AI-assisted tax preparation and bookkeeping support to U.S. CPA, EA, tax and accounting firms. We prepare draft returns (Forms 1040, 1065, 1120, 1120S, 1041 and 990) that a licensed professional reviews and approves. This policy covers our marketing website, landing pages, and the services we provide to client firms.

2.Information we collect

a. Information you give us

  • Contact & enquiry details you submit through our demo, discovery-call and contact forms — your name, work email, firm name, phone number and any message.
  • Communications — emails and messages you send us, and our replies.

b. Client and tax documents (for firms using our service)

  • When a firm engages us, we process the source documents needed to prepare returns (e.g., W-2s, 1099s, K-1s and related records). This information is provided by the firm and processed on their behalf.
  • We do not use a firm's client data to train shared or public AI models. Data is isolated by firm.

c. Information collected automatically

  • IP address and approximate location (country, region/state and city) derived from it.
  • Pages you view, the landing page you arrived on, time spent on a page, referring source, and general device/browser information.
  • Cookies and similar technologies used to keep the site working and to understand aggregate usage.

3.How we use information

  • To respond to your enquiries, schedule demos and discovery calls, and provide our services.
  • To prepare, review and deliver tax returns for client firms.
  • To operate, secure, maintain and improve our website and services, including measuring traffic and the performance of our marketing.
  • To send service and account communications, and — where permitted — relevant updates about our services.
  • To comply with legal, tax and regulatory obligations, and to protect our rights and prevent misuse.

4.Cookies & analytics

We use essential cookies to run the site and analytics to understand how visitors use it (for example, which pages are viewed and how long visitors stay). This helps us improve content and the effectiveness of our advertising. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling some cookies may affect how the site works.

5.How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed:

  • Service providers who help us operate — for example cloud hosting, email delivery and analytics providers — under agreements that limit their use of the information.
  • Professional and legal reasons — to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, enforce our terms, or protect the rights, safety and property of UpTax, our clients and others.
  • Business transfers — if we are involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

6.How we protect information

We apply administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect information, including encryption in transit and at rest, least-privilege access controls, and a SOC 2-aligned control posture. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information and continually review our practices.

7.Data retention

We keep information for as long as needed to provide our services, respond to your enquiries, and meet legal, tax and accounting requirements. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it. Client firms may request deletion of their data subject to applicable retention obligations.

8.Your rights & choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your personal information, to object to certain processing, or to opt out of marketing. To exercise any of these, contact us at the address below and we will respond as required by applicable law (including U.S. state privacy laws such as the CCPA/CPRA and, where relevant, the GDPR). You can opt out of marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link or by contacting us.

9.International visitors

We are based in and operate primarily for the United States. If you access our site from outside the U.S., your information may be processed in the U.S. and other countries whose data-protection laws may differ from those in your location.

10.Children's privacy

Our website and services are intended for businesses and professionals and are not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

11.Third-party links

Our site may link to third-party websites or services we do not control. This policy does not apply to those sites, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies.

12.Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will be highlighted on this page. Your continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
